The idea of starting a specialist engineering consultancy titled “Storm Water Consulting” came to me back in the mid 90’s. I was lying on the back seat of our van at the time during a long family road trip. The few years that followed found me running a one-manned show out of a very small home office. Computer models were slow, internet was via dial-up and I had to drive to the “Printshop at the End of the World” every time I wanted to produce a report. But like any worthwhile endeavour, lots of hard work and perseverance has paid off.

Nearly 20 years later, Storm is now well positioned in the market place. We have friendly and technically competent staff and also a great network of clients and consultants that we work closely with. I wouldn’t say that business life is particularly ease, but the steady flow of stormwater and flood related work that comes through our door really keeps things flowing. Thanks to the thousands of clients out there that make Storm possible.

Hydraulic Engineer
BE Civil, MIEAust, RPEQ, CPEng

I started working for storm in September 2008 as an undergraduate engineer. I graduated from the university of Queensland in 2010 with a degree in civil engineering. I chose a career in hydraulic engineering because it’s a challenging discipline in the civil engineering sector and it is in an industry that is evolving. I also like to keep physically active by surfing, weight lifting and playing soccer.

As you can probably tell from my picture, I am not your typical Aussie. But nevertheless, Storm has given me a place to call home for the past 5 years. I can assure you I speak fluent English (and also Mandarin in case you’re wondering), just not well enough to understand most sayings that my boss says to me. My wife and I recently welcomed our first child, so if I missed what you said on the phone, you have been warned. I graduated from UQ in 2010 and have since been working at Storm. I enjoy eating, sleeping and (for the most part) riding my bicycle to work.

Hydraulic Engineer
BE Civil

I graduated from the University of Queensland in December 2013 with a degree in Civil Engineering. My undergraduate work experience coupled with my particular interest in the hydraulics courses at university drove my interest in working as a hydraulic engineer. I started at Storm in September 2014. Since then I have undertaken a wide variety of work, on small to large scale projects, working under Darren, Steve and Jack. Outside of work I enjoy keeping active and fit. When I am not in the office I like to be outdoors camping and fishing.
