Steve Hughes

Engineering Manager

A Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia and Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ) with the Queensland Board of Professional Engineers. Steve began his career at Storm Water Consulting in 2008 as an undergraduate engineer, where he learnt the basics of stormwater and hydraulic engineering whilst studying at the University of Queensland (UQ). Upon graduation, Steve continued with Storm as a civil engineer, expanding his knowledge in the industry to cover all aspects of stormwater design and flood analysis. Throughout his years at Storm, Steve has endeavored to develop himself into a leader with a passion for helping the Storm team grow to their utmost potential.

Jack Hu

Principal Engineer

Jack is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng, NER) and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) with more than 15 years of experience. During his time with Storm, Jack has immersed himself in all aspects of flood and stormwater design, gaining an in-depth knowledge of the flood and stormwater standards within Queensland. Jack also speaks Chinese Mandarin and is always happy to assist the community in understanding, managing and designing for flooding. In his down time, Jack enjoys bike-riding around the Brisbane River and is also a massive fan of the NBA, supporting the Boston Celtics to capture Banner 19.

Cody Grohn

Principal Engineer

Cody is a Principal Engineer. Cody joined the Storm team in September 2014 after graduating from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. Over the past decade Cody has developed extensive experience in floodplain modelling, overland flow modelling, flood emergency management plans and stormwater management plans for urban and rural development and government projects in Queensland. Outside of work Cody enjoys being outdoors, camping and fishing, as well spending time with family and friends.

Zahra Abed

Project Engineer

Zahra started working for Storm in January 2021. Zahra specialises in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling as well as flood storage analysis. She enjoys learning innovative ways to complete hydraulic models and one of her favorite things about Storm Water Consulting is the team she works with, as work wouldn’t be the same without the great and compassionate team of highly skilled individuals.

Anthony Wong

Hydraulic Engineer

Anthony started working with Storm Water Consulting in May 2023. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology and a Diploma in Business. Anthony is an enthusiast for basketball, soccer, and rugby and regularly works out during his free time.

Pavle Anicic

Hydraulic Engineer

Pavle has a Bachelor’s degree (honours) in Civil Engineering from the University of Queensland. He started working at Storm in November 2024 and is very interested in stormwater engineering. In his spare time, Pavle thoroughly enjoys football, F1 racing, and staying active.

Nathan Newitt

Hydraulic Engineer

Nathan joined Storm Water Consulting in September 2024, before recieving his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2025. Nathan has a strong enthusiasm and passion when it comes to flood and stormwater assessments. Nathan has also previously completed a Diploma in outdoor education due to his love for any outdoor activity including hiking, rock climbing, kayaking and SCUBA diving.

Kim Mandla

Administration & Marketing Officer

Kim started working for Storm over 9 years ago, taking care of all the offices administration and marketing responsibilities. Kim is your first point of contact known by her famous positive and friendly attitude. Kim previously worked with Barristers and Solicitors in Sydney and Brisbane and also as a Real Estate Agent.

Kim is a mother of 6 children and enjoys being busy and working with a good team. She loves working at Storm as it has a great atmosphere and culture, and enjoys offering her many expertise in helping run the various functions and business processes within the office.
